Hosting cPanel Price Increases

Back to Blog

In late June 2019, cPanel, our preferred hosting control panel for our clients hosting needs, announced a price increase to their software license for everyone. This article explains more about the price increase and what it means for our hosting clients.

What Is cPanel?

cPanel is the preferred hosting control panel sofware used for our clients, and utilized by an estimated 40% of all hosting servers worldwide. It helps our customers more easily do the following:

  • Easily check account usage.
  • Manage email accounts.
  • View website statistics.
  • Easily add / update / delete various software.
  • Manage DNS records.
  • And much more.

The announcement by cPanel that they were increasing pricing has caused some chaos in the hosting industry, since cPanel is utilized by an estimated 40% of all hosting servers worldwide, which in turn forces hosting companies worldwide to have to increase their prices for their customers. Previously cPanel was a single license price per server. With the new pricing structure, cPanel charges per server & per cPanel account.

This announcement came as a shock to us and the industry as a whole. The rates mentioned in the cPanel blog post are costs for providers like us and on average represent an estimated 40% increase. Our team did some extensive research for possible alternative hosting control panel software, compared features, and found that at this time, cPanel is still the best option for our clients.

What Does This Mean For Me?

In order to continue offering our clients cPanel software, we are slightly increasing monthly hosting fees. The new price increases are as follows:

Shared hosting accounts:
An increase of $1 per month.

VPS / Dedicated Server accounts:
Pricing will vary based upon the number of accounts you have on your VPS / Dedicated server, but the average increase will be roughly $10 per month up to 25 accounts.

When Does The Price Increase Happen?

New pricing and adjustments to your existing hosting subscription accounts went into effect on January 5th, 2020. So your next automated charge will reflect this increase.

We appreciate your business and if you have any questions regarding this slight price increase, please give us a call or use our inquiry form via our contact us page.
