There are several ways to move a CPANEL account from an old server to a new one. For simplicity we will cover the most common method:
PREPARATION:
Our recommendation is to NOT setup the hosting account in advance on the new server. If the username differs on the CPANEL backup compared to new hosting account, you must delete the new hosting account in advance. Else it will toss an error.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Ensure you have a copy of a full account CPANEL backup zip file or CPMOVE file present.
2. SSH into server root, then change directory to /home and click ENTER.
3. Upload your backup zip file.
4. Login to WHM and click into BACKUPS > RESTORE A FULL BACKUP/CPMOVE FILE.
5. From the drop down list under USERNAME, locate the username and backup file you just uploaded.
6. Leave all of the default settings and submit. Depending on the size, it may take few minutes.
7. Upon completion, if domain is already propagated, do test with browser.
8. Done!
